Park Place Residents Shine at the First-Ever Generations Championship

On September 10, residents from across Calgary came together for a day filled with fun, friendship, and adapted sports at the first-ever Generations Championship, hosted by Generations Calgary. The event welcomed participants from 10 different care homes for a lively morning of games, laughter, and community spirit.

From the very start, the atmosphere was one of excitement and joy. Residents competed in a variety of inclusive activities such as chair volleyball, bowling, and obstacle courses, all thoughtfully adapted so that everyone could participate fully. The result was an uplifting celebration of purpose, connection, and possibility.

Celebrating Our Residents’ Achievements

Four of our residents attended the championship alongside our recreation team, and they had the best time. The energy and enthusiasm they brought to each activity were inspiring, and their smiles said it all.

We’re proud to share that three of our residents received medals for their efforts, while another was a wonderful sport, taking part with equal enthusiasm. Whether competing, supporting friends, or simply soaking up the festive atmosphere, each resident embodied the spirit of fun, resilience, and community that makes days like this so memorable.

More Than Just Games

While the competitions added plenty of excitement, the day was about much more than winning. Residents enjoyed delicious food, swapped stories with peers from other communities, and formed new friendships in a lively, supportive atmosphere. Laughter rang out across the event space as participants and spectators alike found joy in every challenge, every cheer, and every connection.

Events like the Generations Championship highlight how important recreation is in senior living. They remind us that wellness is physical, emotional, mental, and social. Taking part in shared experiences helps residents feel connected, engaged, and celebrated.
