Clayton Heights Care Community Awarded $2,000 Kickstarter Grant

Clayton Heights Care Community is proud to receive a $2,000 Kickstarter grant for its exceptional work in the Appropriate Use of Antipsychotics (AUA) initiative.
Since January, the team partnered with Health Quality BC and a dedicated coach to promote safer, person-centered approaches to antipsychotic use. Monthly check-ins, peer learning sessions, and webinars strengthened staff skills in assessment, documentation, and non-pharmacological strategies. A key goal was achieving 75% compliance in accurate documentation by September 2025, supported by regular reviews and CIHI validation.
Staff engagement was outstanding throughout the project. Appreciation initiatives, such as “Thank you for being awesome” cups and cookies, boosted morale. Moving forward, ideas like converting an office into a coffee shop or small shopping area are being explored. The team also discovered that short off-site visits help reduce responsive behaviors, reinforcing the value of creating supportive spaces.
Collaboration among nurses, physicians, and families ensured shared understanding and best practices. This grant reflects the dedication and teamwork at Clayton Heights Care Community. Congratulations to the entire team for setting a high standard in resident well-being and continuous improvement!
