Opened in 2005, Mountain Lake is a beautiful Campus of Care with an excellent reputation within the community. The complex care residents live in family-style cottages, many with views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

Completely updated and opened in 2008 as a care home, For Langley Seniors Community is located on a quiet residential street a short distance from the community’s historic downtown core. The residence includes 96 complex care beds and is operated under contract with Fraser Health.

GENERAL MANAGER for Retirement Residence in Pencticton, B.C.

Sun Village Retirement Residence is a friendly, well-established retirement residence for seniors conveniently located on Main Street in Penticton, B.C. This 95-suite apartment-style residence has been owned/operated by Park Place Seniors Living since 1995. Working with contracted staff, the site leader is responsible for marketing available suites, ensuring building maintenance, and overseeing the provision of accommodation, hospitality services, and recreation/socialization for residents. This is a full-time, salaried position with industry-standard remuneration and full benefit package.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President Operations, the GM/Site Leader is responsible for the management of the home, especially the effective marketing of vacant suites. The Site Leader is also expected to maintain positive community relations, oversee contracted staff, measure service partner performance, and arrange building maintenance.

Key Activities

  • Increase and maintain occupancy levels by marketing suites, working in conjunction with the Director of Sales and Marketing. Provide marketing plans and weekly updates on occupancy, marketing enquiries, and tours;
  • Interact with the community to build relationships that maintain occupancy; serve as the public contact person for the community and as the contact for residents;
  • Work collaboratively with the company’s housing group to develop new initiatives for marketing and operations;
  • Oversee contracted staff to ensure delivery of meals, site cleanliness, and housekeeping services;
  • Coordinate with the site maintenance worker to ensure the building and resident suites are kept in good repair;
  • Develop and arrange social and/or recreational activities for residents including holiday special events and monthly birthday parties;

  • Liaise as needed with families, medical professionals, and/or interior health to ensure residents receive the services they require;
  • Book guest suite; visitors to special events; and respond to any lifeline/call bell emergencies; and

Requirements and Experience:

  1. The successful candidate will possess good judgement in complex situations; leadership; ability to oversee operation of a physical plant; computer and communication skills; and effective budgeting skills/fiscal management.

 Licensed Practical Nurse - full-time or casual

Overview

Under the clinical direction of the Operations Manager, RN and Site Leader, the LPN leads a team of RCAs that oversee the unique Resident's Day daily schedule established for each resident.
The LPN’s daily responsibilities include:

  1. ensuring that the each resident's unique Resident's Day and Care Plan is up to date; and
  2. reporting on progress and/or changes that are initiated by the support team or the physician.

Responsibilities:

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Manager, the Payroll & Benefits Assistant is responsible for contributing to the efficient and effective operations of the Payroll Department. Key Responsibilities:

Education and Experience:

  1. Minimum 2 years of experience in a high volume computerized payroll office, preferably including experience with union contracts;
  2. Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

 Job Summary
As a valued interdisciplinary team member the Recreation Aide, under the direction of the Recreation Manager, implements recreation and life enrichment programs which meet the physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual needs of the residents. Ensures a commitment to resident safety and to our “culture of safety” and is actively involved in maintaining safety throughout Wexford Creek.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible day-to-day for the preparation, implementation and evaluation of recreation programs in addition to the maintenance of resident attendance records for those programs.
  • Ensures that every resident is involved in identified recreational activities in order to meet the goals of the resident's recreational treatment plan. Leads, instructs and motivates residents in individual and group leisure pursuits.
  • Records complete, accurate and relevant data for every resident according to PPSL charting protocol.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with other interdisciplinary team members and works collaboratively with the IDT including volunteers to support residents’ wishes and needs.

Dietician, permanent part-time in Duncan, B.C.

Job Overview

As an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team, the Dietitian is responsible for the planning, monitoring and approving of menu foods; provision of therapeutic services to individual residents; and working in collaboration with the Food Services Manager to ensure food services meet all legislative standards.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team and the resident and/or family, the Dietitian assesses all residents upon admission and annually to complete a documented, in-depth nutritional assessment, based on the resident’s needs, abilities, and goals.

The Dietitian also:

  • Provides consultation to the Food Services Manager in planning the menu and textured diets, and other dietary matters as they arise;
  • Approves the rotating menu;
  • Performs swallowing assessments and makes recommendations on diet textures, feeding techniques, and safety precautions;
  • Provides staff in-service education on nutrition related topics (e.g. dysphagia, therapeutic diets).
  • Routinely reviews resident weight data and follows up with an in-depth nutritional assessment and plan revision as appropriate;
  • Maintains both the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and the Resident Assessment Protocols (RAPs) as both pertain to nutrition, which includes but is not limited to: care plans, progress notes, assessments, profiles and/or tracking;
  • Acts as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, empathy, trust and respect in all interpersonal relationships, and recognizes personal impact on team dynamics;
  • Focuses on quality of care and safety assurance and improvement by taking a leadership role in PPSL site committees (eg. Site Leadership, Resident Council); and
  • Performs other related duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Must have a university degree in Food and Nutrition or a related field of study and be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.

Support Services Manager

Job Overview:
Reporting to the site leader, the Support Services Manager oversees the efficient and effective operation of the residence’s Food, Laundry, and Housekeeping Services. Provision of these services must be designed to ensure the safety, comfort, and dignity of the residents.

The Support Services Manager is also a member of the leadership team, whose responsibilities include:

  • Helping develop and maintain the strategic directions for the residence;
  • Assisting with development of the annual budget;
  • Upholding the Park Place Mission, Vision and Values;
  • Supporting Park Place’s resident-directed philosophy of care and Accreditation Canada based standards; and
  • Ensuring implementation of the residence’s policies for confidentiality, respect, ethics, and safety.

This position requires a highly organized and innovative individual who is self-directed, flexible, and who can adapt and work effectively with a variety of people and situations. Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensures the delivery of quality food, laundry, and housekeeping services by working with the clinical dietitian; scheduling staff; and monitoring work performance
  • Carries out quality improvement and risk management initiatives
  • Researches and applies best practices in residential care
  • Supports Accreditation of the residence
  • Supports the leadership team and serves as a liaison with specific external groups
  • Ensures the residence is in compliance with health authority and licensing requirements, industry standards, and Park Place policies and procedures
  • Completes external and internal reports as required, including summarizing and analyzing indicator data
  • Exercises expenditure control to keep operations within the annual budget
  • Supports placement of work experience students
  • Creates and maintains an effective inventory, storage and supply system, utilizing corporate suppliers as appropriate to minimize cost through bulk buying, and recommending new products/resources as needed
  • Promotes staff health and safety, WHMIS program, injury prevention, Park Place’s ethical framework, and in-service training. Holds educational meetings as required and maintains morale. Chairs the OH & S Committee.
  • When necessary, works with the senior leadership to review performance and take disciplinary action within the provisions of the union contract. Assists in hiring decisions.
  • Identifies and responds to hazards, near misses, incident reports, or faulty equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  1. Certificate or Diploma in management from a recognized institution; Baccalaureate degree preferred
  2. Three years related experience at a supervisory level in a healthcare facility
  3. Either a Dietitian registered or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia; or a Nutritionist registered or eligible for registration in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.

An equivalent combination of education, related training, and experience will also be considered.

Housekeeping Aide for Fort Langley - casual

Fort Langley Seniors Community in Fort Langley has a current opening for a casual but frequently required Housekeeping position. The successful applicant will cover shifts when other staff are ill or on vacation.This is a potential career position that could develop into permanent full-time and also include in-service training and cross-training in laundry or dietary support.

Requirements are:

  1. WHMIS training
  2. Completion of the building service worker course
  3. Previous housekeeping experience in residential care, healthcare, or hospitality is preferred.
  4. Minimum Grade 8 education; fluent in written and spoken English

Shifts are typically 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are also some later shifts, ending at 10 p.m.

Job Overview
As a valued interdisciplinary team member the Housekeeping Aide, under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, performs general cleaning throughout Fort Langley Seniors Community. Duties include the cleaning of residents’ rooms, bathrooms, staff rooms, offices and other areas as assigned. The successful applicant will follow Park Place policies, including those governing infection prevention and control, WHMIS, ethics, safety, resident choice, and ongoing quality improvement. As a member of the care team, the Housekeeping Aide treats residents with dignity and demonstrates a caring attitude.

Detailed Responsibilities
Typical Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Vacuuming, dry mopping and wet mopping all floors;
  • Cleaning bathroom, commodes, lifts and other equipment as assigned;
  • Performing daily, routine cleaning of resident rooms, including disinfecting beds and turning/flipping mattresses, cleaning of windows, blinds and curtains.
  • Deep cleaning of resident rooms as required;
  • Refinishing and polishing floors;
  • Ensuring housekeeping equipment is clean and in good repair and supplies are in stock;
  • Reporting any equipment needing repair or other housekeeping supply needs to Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Maintenance;
  • Alerting supervisor or floor nurse to any safety issues or potential risks to residents, visitors and staff;
  • Understanding and following PPSL Infection Prevention and Control policies and procedures and following Universal Precautions when handling body fluids;
  • Engaging in ongoing quality improvement, education, and team-building; and
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Dietary Aide for Fort Langley Seniors Community - casual

Fort Langley Seniors Community has an opening for a Dietary Aide. This is a Casual but frequently scheduled position that provides coverage when other employees are sick or on vacation. Requirements are Level One Food Safe certification and Grade 12 graduation. Experience in residential care food services, hospital food services, or the hospitality industry is preferred.

There are two shifts each day, which cover the hours from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. In-service training is possible and the position could develop into a full-time, career placement with Park Place.

Job Overview

As a valued interdisciplinary team member the Dietary Aide, under the direction of the Cook and/or Dietary Supervisor, assists with food preparation and serving. Typical tasks are portioning, serving, and cleaning. The Dietary Aide also assists in the receiving, distribution, storage and maintaining of stock and supplies.

Detailed tasks:

  • Performs the day-to-day food services activities related to the preparation and provision of meals to residents. This includes less complex food preparation as requested and meal/nourishment service set-up and delivery;.
  • Assists residents as required;
  • Performs the day-to-day food services activities related to washing of supplies and cleaning of the kitchen and all other dining areas in the care home, including the food servery and dining rooms;
  • Keeps work areas clean, neat, and tidy;
  • Assists in receiving, distribution, and storage of delivered supplies;
  • Monitors and reports any issues of food storage or safety to the cook;
  • Makes recommendations to improve efficiency and work flow in meal preparation and provision of meals to residents;
  • Participates in, and supports the Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety, WHMIS, and Infection Prevention and Control programs;
  • Attends meetings and in-service training as applicable; and
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 Activity Aide

Position Overview
Under the direction of the Recreation & Volunteer Manager or designate, assists in planning, implementing and evaluating recreation programs to meet the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and cultural needs and interests of the residents.

Responsibilities
Include but not limited to:

  • Carries out established recreation programs including outings, exercises, crafts, social events, entertainment, games, etc.
  • Assists and motivate residents to and from programs as required.
  • Assists, encourages, and motivates residents to participate and provide personal care during recreational activities as required.
  • Observes, reports and documents any changes, in residents, to the supervisor and/or nurse.
  • Ensures recreational equipment and supplies are used, maintained and stored in a safe, clean, and efficient manner. Reports unsafe or faulty equipment to supervisor.
  • Actively participates in meetings, committees and educational in-services as required. Assists in the maintenance of statistical records.
  • Assists with orientation of new residents.
  • Provides guidance, assistance and support to volunteers. Assists in the evaluation of volunteers.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  1. Graduate from a recognized Activity/Recreation Certificate or diploma program
  2. Experience in a senior’s focused recreation department.
  3. Basic First Aid Certificate (Current).
  4. Food Safe Course or equivalent (Current).
